A new school year, a new adventure

So begins the 2014-2015 school year. And so ends my time as a New York City Department of Education teacher.

I am leaving the friendly confines of the NYCDOE after 11 years. It's been a great run. I've taught in a computer lab the entire time, everything from Kindergarten through 8th grade. We've researched, presented, blogged, tweeted, and most everything in between. The DOE has provided me with invaluable experiences and amazing memories. But, alas, other opportunities and adventures await...

... The start of the the 2014-2015 marks the first year of this new adventure: Scarsdale. I was presented with an opportunity to work outside the City with the amazing tech team of the Scarsdale school district, just north of NYC in Westchester County.

I am leaving the NYCDOE with a heavy heart; I have loved my time in the City and thought I'd never leave. But I am also very excited to begin this new adventure and to learn from all the great folks pushing innovation in Scarsdale.

We always talk about providing students with opportunities to access the world and drive their learning. I am taking that notion to heart and embracing this opportunity, leaving the only instructional environment I've ever known, to push the bounds of my own learning and growth. I just hope I can give to Scarsdale as much as I know I will learn from them.

And so it begins...
